Choosing the right size unit for your needs is not always straightforward. We have a few tips, tricks and tools to help you decide what size is right for you.

There are a few factors that will determine what size is best for your needs. What you are storing, availability, accessibility, length of rental and frequency of use should play a role in your storage unit size choice.

1. What are you storing?

You don’t want to rent a storage unit and find that your belongings don’t fit right? Well use our storage calculator to determine the size best suited for you. Just choose the basic items that you are wanting to store and the calculator will do the rest for you.

2. Availability & Accessibility

Choosing a unit solely based on price is not always your best option for safety and convenience. You should always make sure items are stacked safe and secure to ensure that no harm or damage comes to you or your belongings. If the location, you choose to store with does not have the size you choose it is best to go larger rather than smaller.Often times a larger sized unit is only a couple more dollars a month.

3. Length of rental & Frequency of use

It is important to ask yourself, “Will I be moving the items in and out of this unit?”. If the answer is yes, then it would benefit you to rent a larger unit to give you wiggle room. When choosing your unit size, the amount of time you plan to keep the unit and how often you will be in and out of it will help determine the size for you. For example, if you are using the unit for a short term move and will not need to access it often a unit that will fit your belongings snugly will be perfect for you. How ever if you are going to be rotating items out and accessing it on a frequent schedule it is best to have wiggle room. Walkways between items will be an important factor in determining what size will work for you.
